Though rhinoplasty can enhance your appearance and your
self-confidence, it probably won't transform you into
your appearance to match an idealized image or change
how other people to treat you differently. Before you
decide to have surgery, you should think carefully about
your expectations and discuss them with Dr. Markus.
The best rhinoplasty candidates are those who seek improvement,
not perfection.
Dr.
Markus always discusses with his patients their candidacy
for surgery as well as your specific circumstances.
You may be a good candidate for rhinoplasty if:
- Your
nose appears too large for your face
- You
have a bump or depression on the nasal bridge when
viewed in profile
- Your
nose seems too wide when viewed from the front
- Your
nasal tip droops or plunges
- Your
nasal tip is thickened or enlarged
- Your
nostrils flare excessively
- Your
nose is off center or crooked
- Your
nose is asymmetrical
- You
have an airway obstruction that impairs your breathing.
The
Right Time for Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty
can be performed on men and women of almost any age.
However, we generally recommend that young people wait
until their facial growth is completed-about age 13
or 14 for young women and 14 or 15 for young men.
