What
areas can be treated?
While laser resurfacing is most often performed on the
face, other areas can be treated including the neck,
and hands.
Will
the procedure be painful?
Discomfort levels will vary from patient to patient.
Dr. Markus will discuss all pain management options
with you.
How
long will it take to heal?
Recovery varies from patient to patient, depending upon
the depth of the treatment and your normal healing process.
The type of laser used by Dr. Markus minimizes the degree
of erythema (redness) resulting from the procedure.
Are
there any other options available to me?
Laser resurfacing is the most precise and predictable
method of refinishing facial skin. Some lighter methods
can offer shorter recovery times, but they may require
repeat treatments and never equal the more aggressive
laser technique. However, you may want to discuss these
other options with Dr. Markus:
- Retin-A:
A light treatment involving regular applications of
prescription cream.
- Glycolic
acid peel: A light resurfacing involving
a prescribed facial wash.
- Dermabrasion:
A more aggressive procedure of removing the surface
layer of skin utilizing a motorized brush.
- Chemical
peel: A chemical solution is applied that
will peel away the top layers of skin.
