Before you decide to have surgery, you should think
realistically about your expectations and discuss them
with Dr. Markus. The best candidates for this procedure
are those who seek improvement, not necessarily perfection.
As
is the case with many types of cosmetic procedures,
a forehead lift can enhance your appearance, making
you feel better about yourself. It doesn't, however,
remove all facial flaws nor can it prevent future aging
of the skin, natural changes, or "expression lines,"
which come from normal facial movements such as smiling,
talking, and squinting.
Forehead
lift surgery is generally best for:
- Individuals
who are between the ages of 30 and 70
- Anyone
who has developed furrows, frown lines, or drooping
brows
- Those
who have inherited conditions such as drooping brows
- People
with good facial skin elasticity
- Those
in good physical and psychological health
Many
people will also elect to combine a forehead lift with
a facelift to improve overall appearance and/or eyelid
surgery if their upper eyelids are particularly heavy.
If
you are bald, have a receding hairline, or have had
previous upper-eyelid surgery you may still be a good
candidate for forehead lift surgery. Dr. Markus will
adapt the procedure by altering the location of the
incision or take a more conservative approach to the
procedure.
If
your hair is quite short, you may choose to let it grow
out before surgery so that it's long enough to cover
your scars while they heal.
