Often the first signs of aging show up on our
face where everyone can see them. Sun and wind exposure,
your complexion, weight changes, nutrition, and smoking
all play a role in what your skin looks like. The resulting
lines, wrinkles, and loose skin can make you look and
feel older. They can even affect how others think about
you and treat you. You may have years of experience,
but don't let your face show it.
A facelift, or rhytidectomy, will roll back the years,
removing excess fat, tightening your skin and the underlying
muscles, and contouring your features. Afterward, your
face and neck will feel fresher and firmer, and you
will look years younger.
Facelift Surgery. Facelifts are
performed in a variety of ways; how Dr. Norman Markus
performs your facelift will depend on your features
and your desired results.
In most facelift surgeries, an incision is hidden
in the contour of your ear and extends around the earlobe
and into your hairline. These incisions can be easily
hidden by your hair and by makeup. In some cases, there
may also be a small incision beneath your chin.
Working through these incisions, Dr. Norman Markus
will free the facial skin from its underlying tissue
and pull it upward and back. During this procedure,
he will remove excess skin and fat, and he may reposition
deeper tissues to restore a more youthful contour to
your face. The incision under your chin will be used
to remove fatty tissue and smooth the cord-like structures
of the underlying muscle.
