All surgery involves risks. Although the risks
are uncommon, you need to be aware of them. Dr. Norman
Markus will be happy to answer any questions you may
have or address any of your concerns.
Some possible complications with eyelid surgery include:
Bleeding. Bleeding after surgery
is generally light. You may also notice some swelling
and bruising.
Eyelid closure. Following surgery,
some patients have trouble closing their eyes, but
this generally ends as the swelling decreases. In very
rare cases, this may be permanent.
Whiteheads. When your sutures are
removed, small whiteheads may appear that Dr. Norman
Markus can easily remove with a very fine needle.
Infection. In some cases, patients develop infections that
can be easily treated with antibiotics.
Ectropion. In very rare cases,
scar retraction may cause the lower eyelid to be
pulled away from the eyeball.
