You and Dr. Markus will discuss your candidacy for surgery
as well as your specific circumstances. You may be a
good candidate for breast reconstruction surgery if:
- You
have already lost one or both breasts to cancer or
if you know you will be undergoing a mastectomy.
- You
understand that while this procedure will certainly
improve your figure, the reconstructed breast(s) will
not look or feel exactly like your breasts.
- Your
oncologist and surgeon agree that you are a candidate
based on the stage of your cancer and related treatment.
- You
are prepared for the emotional adjustment period.
Losing a breast takes time to get used to; accepting
a reconstructed breast as your own will also take
time.
- You
have no additional health concerns such as obesity
or heart disease.
