Procedure: Bilateral Breast Lift (Dermatomastopexy).
Patient
Concerns: This 31 year old female was 5’5”
tall, weighted 130 pounds and wore a C brassiere. She
complained of breast heaviness and back discomfort.
During her periods, her breasts were extremely sore.
She desired improved breast shape and the appearance
of healthy, young breasts. She complained that her breasts
appeared ‘saggy’.
Dr.
Markus’ Treatment: She underwent bilateral
breast lift (Dermatomastopexy). Preoperatively, there
was breast asymmetry, with the left breast larger than
the right and the level of the left nipple was 0.4 inches
lower than the right. The areola (nipples) were large
relative to the breast size and were located below the
level of the breast mound, making the breasts appear
‘saggy’. During surgery, Dr. Markus removed
3 ounces from the right breast and 4.5 ounces from the
left breast to allow for symmetry in size. Similarly,
Dr. Markus raised the nipple location on both breasts
and reduced the size of the areola so that the nipple
was centered on the re-contoured breast mound.

Comments: “Imagine going through high
school with breasts proportional to your body size,
only to have them grow considerably with moderate weight
gain, and become disproportional to the rest of your
body. Eventually I lost the additional weight, but my
large breasts seemed pretty committed to my body.
Full
figure bras are not the most attractive piece of lingerie.
Wearing a bra with wide, padded straps was not only
unattractive, it made it impossible to wear those cute,
little tanks during the summer!
Exercising
and clothes shopping were complete nightmares. Imagine
wearing two workout bras just to do a little cardio
four to five days a week only to fall victim to out
of control breasts, eventually limiting your workout
considerably due to pain.
Shopping
was always a dreaded occasion. While the rest of my
body agreed I was a size six, my chest screamed ‘give
me an eight, or even a 10!’ It’s a crime
to detest shopping.
Finally,
I decided I had to do something. After talking to three
of my girlfriends that were patients of Dr. Markus,
I decided to have a breast reduction and lift in August
2002. My decision was not made swiftly, however. I conferred
with my husband and even my mother for weeks before
moving forward with the surgery.
For
me, my reduction and lift were truly a life-changing
experience.
I
am now able to wear those cute little tank tops and
exercise limitlessly. My whole sense of being has completely
changed and I enjoy getting dressed each morning AND
shopping.
My
trust in Dr. Markus and his staff is immeasurable. Their
proactive educational approach before and after surgery
is exceptional, and their personal surgical experiences
lend confidence to any hesitant women. Just wait until
you experience their bedside manner!
They
helped make a difficult decision a self-fulfilling and
positive experience.’
