How long does the procedure take?
The time required varies depending on how much
repair work Dr. Markus will be doing, but abdominoplasty
generally takes between 2 and 5 hours. The less
extensive partial abdominoplasty takes 1 to 2
hours.
Will
I need to stay in the hospital?
This also depends on how extensive your procedure
is, but it is common to stay one night. If the
repair is minimal, you may be able to go home
the same day. Dr. Markus will tell you how to
prepare during your consultation.
When
can I get back to work and my normal routine?
After surgery, expect to spend two to three days
in bed with your legs bent at the hips and your
back elevated to reduce abdominal strain. After
three days you will be able to spend more time
up and about, engaging in some basic activities
at home. Some people are able to return to work
in two weeks while others must wait up to four
weeks.
What
are the long-term results of abdominoplasty?
The long-term results are excellent as long as
you keep your weight relatively constant, exercise
regularly, and follow Dr. Markus's instructions
regarding resuming physical activity.
